This is a reliable way to make rice that is not sticky with well-differentiated individual grains without a rice cooker. Although some may find this a little dry, this is the best way to cook rice when it is but a component of a more complex dish. Long-grain or any not starchy type of rice is recommended.
Ingredients:
1 cup rice
1.5 cups water (filtered recommended)
salt to taste
Time:
Preparation Time - 2 minutes
Ready to eat in - 35 minutes
Method:
1. Place rice into a pot and rinse in cold water, drain well.
2. Add 1.5 cups of filtered water, salt, and put on high heat.
3. Stirring, bring to boil, reduce heat to medium, and boil for 2 minutes.
4. Reduce to very low heat, close lid, and simmer for 10 minutes. Do not open the lid!
5. Switch off the heat, and let the rice stand covered for 20 minutes. Do not open the lid!
6. Fluff with a wooden fork
